Roads, trains, and planes

How to get to Italy and to our Holiday Villa in Paciano, Umbria.

We are in the centre of the Italian peninsula, well connected by train and motorway to the main international and local airports.

The main international airports are those of Rome, Florence and Pisa, each approximately a 2 – 2.5 hour drive away. They are served by both mainline and low-cost airlines. A few low-cost European airlines fly into Perugia airport, which is even closer to us (about 45 minutes by car), but there is not yet a wide choice of flights available and not all of these fly on a Saturday. There are car hire offices at all the airports.

The train station at Chiusi is a 20 minute drive away and is on the main railway line between Rome, Florence, Bologna and Milan. There is a taxi stand just in front of the station (the fare to Paciano is around 25 Euro) and a few car hire firms have offices in Chiusi or nearby (AVIS, Hertz, Europcar) but are closed Saturday afternoons and Sundays. Rome is 1 – 1.5 hours away by train and Florence is just over 1 hour. By train from Pisa it takes between 2.5-3.5 hours, depending on the time of day, with a change in Florence.

As there is virtually no public transportation available in Paciano it is strongly advised that you hire a car for your stay so that you can thoroughly enjoy the area.
